It was a good thing to bounce the idea off of your B2, since he is close enough to the situation to help guide you on that. I know it hurts you that you cannot have your family visit with her, but don't worry; in the end, your heart is in the right place.

I know that there is a place in your mom's heart that is very glad you visited her and that is what is important. I wish I could be with you to give you more comfort on this issue. Let's just keep praying that your mom's heart will be at peace. It is so very hard to watch our loved ones age; I am sorry that you have to go through this right now. This is when those cute things your kids do really help, a smile or a hug from them goes a long way. It reminds us that we still have our mission in life to guide them to success.

I hope you have a nice Thursday, Take care, Love, All Peach

This is a fictional work by allpeach64.

&#169 2010 (October 28) allpeach64, All Rights Reserved.

20100920 fictional email from All Peach to 90hazelnut

Hi 90hazelnut, I'm sorry I did not answer your e-mail sooner. I am so sorry you are feeling down. I do like that you are aware of your health and are being careful with what you eat and drink. Stress can really mess up one's systems. I would ask that you take a step back from it and ask yourself, "is it really worth getting all worked up over?". My hope would be that the answer is a calming "no", and father time will gladly do his part to heal the wounds as he always does.

You know I would be good for multiple hugs if I lived in the area. Just pretend that it is so, and the hugs are all yours, kiddo.

I so hope your headache has subsided. Also an apology would be nice. I never like it when my spouse is yelling and fighting with me. I can only remember one time when I escalated the noise with her. I always let it slide off me as much as I can. It also upsets my younger kid a lot when she is yelling. I will say she has been a bit better lately, but still has her moments. Your house is probably not unlike a lot of households, and similar stress is played out in many families in similar fashion. Take a deep breath, 90hazelnut - I believe this, too, will pass.

I love you today and always and look forward to one of your patented hugs, although I have many memories of plenty of them that hold me over for now. Look, your K2 is just being a typical 13 yr old. He is unsure of what he wants to get into. My kids are much the same way. I do push them more than my spouse does, into things they otherwise probably wouldn't do, and sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't work.

My K2 was unsure of XC all the way up until practices started. I knew if I didn't go with him on the conditioning runs in the summer, he would have never done it. As much as I tried to steer my K1 into XC, he didn't budge and didn't join, much to my dismay. I believe he would have benefited greatly from it.

Well if your K2 doesn't do Xc, then I would search the other options he has for activities he can join. I think you were right on track with Krav Maga; that was an excellent idea. Maybe you could explain to him that activities like that will help him be more well rounded, and build self confidence - and that benefits him in every thing he does.

Ultimately, we as parents have to be supportive more than anything and I know it is hard sometimes when we know they are not doing things they should be to help them grow and build their persona. At least he is a great student grade wise; that is a huge hurdle for many parents - you have that one licked.

I hope these words help, I would have loved working through this with you, but this is the best I can do for now. Your kids are all very precious and gifted and I thank God they are all so blessed with talents, and they take after you in so many good ways, too. Some kids take longer to find their way than others; keep that in mind too. I would maybe ask him what some of his friends do for extra activities.

Have a better Friday evening, keep your chin up, many hugs going your way from me, I know how you feel. Life is always a work in progress. That's what makes it so interesting and wonderful to be alive.

I was sorry to hear about your mom and her struggle with early to mid Alzheimer's. I hope you can make it back to see her soon. I'm so glad she has your B2 to look after her.

The media in this country is gone. In fact, what is happening to this country now is so alarming to me and my spouse; we just look at each other sometimes and say, "What the hell has happened to the country we grew up in; it is largely gone". We need a large reversal this November or it may well be over for good.

On the gym front, I've worked out this week all but one day. I ran yesterday 5 miles and felt great! It's great to be alive! Have a good Friday. His team won. K2 had a good day at the golf course with his practice and lesson.

It's the last day of school for my kids today. They showed the movie "Avatar" to them, which kind of makes me mad, as it's pretty much an anti - American, anti- military movie. I would prefer a movie like "Mr Smith goes to Washington"; I remember seeing that when I was in grade school. Another movie we saw at school - high school - that really made an impression on me was "Cool Hand Luke" with your old friend Paul Newman. He was such an American original, and a Cleveland boy too, growing up on the fruited plane of Ohio.

Well, time for another day of fun, take care, Love you, All Peach.

This is a fictional work by All Peach.

&#169 2010 (June 9) allpeach64.blogspot.com, All Rights Reserved.

20100519 Fictional email from All Peach to 90hazelnut

Hi 90hazelnut, I hope you got some sleep somewhere in there since your last email.

That is so nice of your K2 to do that game with the disabled kids. You are doing a fine job with him.

There is a Red Robin near here. We ate there once a while ago; it was good.

Yesterday, K1's baseball game was rained out, and K2 had practice after school. I made burgers on the grill, even though rain was falling. I was able to go to bed early last night.

It's hard to believe that school is almost over, again. I keep harping on the kids to work hard these last few weeks, and to get the best grades they can. They have done a little better lately - K1 especially so.

I forgot to mention that I, too, could use a hug fest, and I miss you very much, but I could say that every day and it would be true. There is a void of physical affection in our lives, I'm sure, although you probably still get hugs from your kids. Mine are "too big" to hug me now, most of the time. K2 still hugs me some - he is sweet.

Baseball tonight, weather permitting. I need to find my way to the gym; didn't go yesterday.

Have a good day. I am on this side of the air/soil interface.

I had a good workout at the Southwest YMCA today - an hour and three-quarters of it. I hope "Only happy when it rains" shuffles along on my iPhone to my ears soon. I am currently overplaying it. The percussion helps me focus, and the female singing is hot, IMHO.

I hope your K2 is feeling better again now; I was sad to read he wasn't feeling well on Wednesday. I hope your K1's workouts and school all go well for him - for K2, too, naturally. I hope your spouse is continuing with her workouts and is pleasant around the house, and I hope she feels well and blessed (grateful). I hope you are okay in every respect, too.

My beloved cat has outdoor fever now, and is pretty demanding to be let outside at 0430 each morning. She has been training me in this area for a week. She walks over my face or pillow and sometimes gently paws my nose. If I close her out of the room, she "cries" outside the door and bangs at the door. She didn't hardly want to go outside for a long time since our older cat was killed by the bobcat in June 2008 - maybe the current beloved feline sensed that or heard her desperately trying to get back in - but kitty definitely has spring fever right now. Ha ha.

Last night my family and I went to a high school art thingy (as my K1 called it) where a selection of high school art was displayed in our town's small art museum. K1 had a beautiful pencil work displayed (hers was of a young man with a guitar, from a photograph), and many of her friends also had art displayed. Some kids won awards. It was a chance to meet and greet the community. We saw many parents we used to see more of, that we don't see much of, now that the kids are "so old" and are off doing their own things. Like neighbors, parents of athletes and former girl scouts, etc. The art show was a nice opportunity and event.

My K2 will apparently be practicing more baseball with his team. Something made his coach back off from practicing them so much, compared to last year - maybe there was some kind of parental feedback or something - but now they are a losing team. I guess it's a good learning experience to be part of a losing team, too. They have a game today.

My K3 is really loving her martial arts class at Studio Kicks. She is supposed to attend at least 2 classes a week, but she always wants to do more than that. We go 3, sometimes 4, times each week. I really am glad about that. She shows such energy and enthusiasm. She is becoming more efficient in her movements. She already had a milestone when she was awarded a "tip" for her white belt - a piece of black masking tape marking that she has made some progress towards the yellow belt.

All my love, 90hazelnut

This has been a fictional work by 90hazelnut.

&#169 2010 (April 29) 90hazelnut.blogspot.com

20100412 Fictional email from All Peach to 90hazelnut

Hi 90hazelnut, I enjoyed viewing your driving videos; my favorite was one with "Heroes" by David Bowie playing, and you were singing along in German, I would guess. There were so many; they must have taken hours to make.

I escaped my spouse's wrath yesterday, as I had all the household chores done by the time she got home. I hope your day is going well.

Have a good hump day - thinking of you - Love, All Peach

This has been a fictional work by All Peach and 90hazelnut.

&#169 2010 (January 6) allpeach64.blogspot.com and 90hazelnut.blogspot.com, All Rights Reserved.

Fictional email from All Peach to 90hazelnut, 20100104

Hi 90hazelnut, thanks again for the many nice emails I get from you.

Who needs Facebook with an email/soulmate like you: not me. Facebook is pretty cool, though, in that you can get in contact with old friends and classmates and find out all the interesting things they are into. My brother is into Facebook, and he was telling me about one of the guys we went to school with. He said, "you should see all the places that guy has been" - his photo album is pretty awesome.

I ran really well yesterday; 4.6+ miles in 40 minutes - and I felt really good afterward. I'm almost all the way back to what I was doing in the military - 5 miles in 40 minutes almost every day.

My kids and I just got back from the gym. I did resistance, and may run later.

I had a good day at work, getting a lot of things fixed in the cold, cold weather. I like feeling strong like I do these days, and I like projecting that feeling to my kids, so they will have confidence to do these things for themselves as they grow older.

Have to run and get dinner going, just wanted to say hi - I love you - All Peach.

This has been a fictional construct by All Peach.

&#169 (January 4) allpeach64.blogspot.com, All Rights Reserved.

Fictional email from All Peach to 90hazelnut

Hi 90hazelnut, I like hearing all the good news - thank you.

I did a double at the gym today and ran 4.25 miles in 37:20 - getting stronger - it feels really good. Walking on the treadmill can be just as good exercise, without the impact of running, if you use the incline. There's no shame in reducing workouts in order to keep working out.

I am getting ready to leave for hunting. It's gun hunting today - first day. The weather is kind of rainy, but it is supposed to clear up by 9. I will email you later with how I did. It touched my heart.

A year ago I saw two guys on a motel bed who had slashed up each other's genitals - and in the bathtub in the motel bathroom, there was what I now believe could have been a dead teenage boy - from news reports I read in the local Santa Cruz newspaper that a transient youth had just died.

It gets worse, what I saw in Santa Cruz. I like to think I'm blameless in one way; I stayed largely innocent and more "saw" than "experienced personally" any true hardships. There's so much sadness and need out there in the homeless and criminal world.

You are doing all you can do to help me already; you are praying for me and thinking for me, wanting the best for me and giving me of your time daily. I won't forget the great gift of friendship you have given me over the years. You also have never wronged me, which is really cool; I would have stayed your friend even if you had, though.

I wish my spouse would want to try harder to help me. He sees and comments that I'm in a lot of pain. Oh well, one can't have it all. I already know I have been incredibly spoiled over the years. I do realize that, and I'm trying to thank my spouse for his very large contributions to the family in other ways, but he doesn't seem keen on listening. Oh well. It helps that I've got someone who will "read" me out when I really need it ... :-)

I hope you are building your sleep debt at a slower rate than usual (!). Please allow yourself to sleep more, my dear!

My spouse is having lots of sleep terrors; I guess he's stressed out by my BS and that's how he's internalizing it.

I am getting pretty good sleep. I've been going to bed early and often getting up and leaving at oh-dark-hundred for the YMCA. I quickly noticed that it helps me frame my day in a more positive way if I exercise as soon as possible in the morning. I am lucky to have the luxury to exercise when it is best for me. I've been taking my vitamins fairly regularly, and I'm going to let up on my binges (nuts and Werther's hard caramel candies) now that my body misses beer less.

>The only thing I know to do is continue to pray for you and let you know that I am always open to any conversation you want to have, if you fell the need to vent. I love you and nothing changes that. I love telling you I love you, because I know how it makes me feel when you write that you love me - in short, it's a great feeling and I love giving that feeling to you. There is nothing in the world that has ever made me happier than seeing your smiling face with love in your eyes and knowing I put the smile there. When I know you are not happy, it makes me sad too; that's when I wish I could hold you and help you feel better.<

Nothing sweeter was ever written than this!
It seems like your kid has the same loving and giving heart as you - how awesome! Praise to the Lord that these nice people exist.

All my love to you, my friend.
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; The home opener used to start earlier in the day - around noon. I can remember specific parts of some games: when Frank Robinson hit a home run as the first black player/manager in the major leagues. I think some of my tears were for my dad, as he can no longer enjoy the beginning of the baseball season, when hope springs eternal for all fans that their team might reach the pinnacle and be Champions in the end. I still don't understand why we get so emotional over guys playing a kid's game; I still do, and still don't know why. It is different now than when we were kids. The players back then were regular guys who had second jobs in the off season. I remember my first baseball game down at the stadium - it was a "bat day" double header with Sam McDowell pitching the first game. He was the star pitcher for the Indians and he lived right around the corner from us. In between games, we all held up our bats, and they looked like thousands of toothpicks among the throng of fans. I still have a photo of such a scene somewhere, and it might even have the date on it - I forget the exact date - late 1960's. We grew up as kids with the number 714 etched in our heads: the all-time home run record by Babe Ruth. No other number was as important as that one. It seems so silly sometimes, but we still get emotional about a game. A game we learned to play with our fathers and brothers and friends. I'll never forget the times my dad used to play catch with us and taught us how to be good pitchers. I never was the pitcher my dad was, but he loved to show us how to play, and he couldn't wait to go into the back yard to have us pitch to him after he came from work. So as the game between the White Sox and Indians ebbed and flowed back and forth, I watered up, thinking of such things, and how my dad would be yelling at the tv, about now, and I would be right there, agreeing with him. We would listen to many a game in the backyard on the radio. That was more fun than watching it, I think , because you could use your imagination and make the scene come alive inside your mind. And there was dad, to answer all my silly questions about why they would "intentionally walk" someone. Or what does "cleanup hitter" mean, and why do they call him a "southpaw". Why would you bunt instead of swing away? Of course, who could forget, "Who was your favorite player?"; my dad's was Bob Feller, an amazing left-handed pitcher who missed out on some of his best baseball years because he went to war in the middle of his career. My dad talked about going down to the stadium to see him pitch when he was 18. He described watching him warm up and said he could still hear he "crack" of the ball hitting the glove of the catcher as he threw. Who knows why names like Ruth and Ted Williams and Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Willie Mays, The Duke, Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, and Joe Dimaggio were more important us than George Washington or Abraham Lincoln? I don't know the answer, but I know that when opening day comes, I usually stop what I'm doing and watch, or listen and remember the days of our fathers; how sweet they were, in some respects.

&#169 2008 allpeach64.blogspot.com, All Rights Reserved.

Who would name their son "Shoulder"?
